Shoulder Scan

MSK Ultrasound Scan is commonly used to investigate in patients presenting with shoulder pain and functional disabilities.

Some of the frequently encountered pathologies include

  • Rotatotor cuff tears and tendonitis

  • Bursitis

  • Osteoarthritis

Elbow Ultrasound

For patients presenting with elbow pain, ultrasound scanning can be used to identify the following, which are some of the more commonly encountered pathologies of the elbow:

  • Distal biceps tendon tear

  • Bursitis

  • Ulnar nerve dislocation

  • Medial and lateral collateral ligament tears

  • Epicondylitis 

Hand/Wrist

Ultrasound evaluation of the wrist can be used to identify a number of pathologies including:

  • Tenosynovitis

  • Neuromas

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

  • Ganglion cysts

  • Tendon tear

  • Ligament tear

  • Fractures

  • Erosions from inflammatory arthropathy

 

Lower Limbs

Knee Scan

Patients may at time present with pain, swelling and discomfort. Some of the more common abnormalities which can be identified with ultrasound evaluation of the knee are:

  • Popliteal cyst (Baker cyst)

  • Collateral ligament tears

  • Bursitis​

  • Synovitis

Ankle and Foot

Conditions of the ankle and foot that can be identified with an ultrasound evaluation include:

  • Ligament tears

  • Achilles tendonitis

  • Plantar fascitis

  • Gout

  • Neuroma
